PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, an image forming method, and a program allowing a code detecting function to coexist with an existing image editing function. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an operation display control unit 201 that receives designation of a read range, which is a range of an image to read; a read control unit 208 that performs control to read an image of a code region in addition to the read range; a code detecting unit 209 that detects a bar code indicating output prohibition, from the image of the code region; and a print control unit 210 that prints the image of the read range.
