Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat disorders of the outer retina resulting from acute or chronic degenerative conditions or diseases of the eye. SOLUTION: There are provided compositions and methods for treating disorders of the outer retina using compounds with 5-HT1Aagonist activity. The invention is directed to 5-HT1Aagonist which is discovered to be useful in treating disorders of the outer retina, particularly: AMD; RP and other forms of heredodegenerative retinal disease; retinal detachment and tears; macular pucker; ischemia affecting the outer retina; diabetic retinopathy; damage associated with laser therapy (grid, focal, and panretinal) including photodynamic therapy (PDT); trauma; surgical (retinal translocation, subretinal surgery, or vitrectomy); retinopathy or light-induced iatrogenic retinopathy; and preservation of retinal transplants.
