COMPUTER REDUCING POWER CONSUMPTION WHILE MAINTAINING SPECIFIC FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a notebook computer with low power consumption while maintaining a specific function. SOLUTION: The notebook computer includes a HDD and can work in a normal mode and a doze mode as a new operation mode. In the doze mode, a process is carried out and operation can be performed with lower power consumption in comparison with the normal mode while maintaining the specific function. In the doze mode, when an LCD casing is closed, a transition event is generated to forcibly suspend a process existing in generation of the event or to retain an I/O process completion notification to a process making an I/O request to the HDD. Consequently, the HDD is stopped while maintaining the session of a chat program and the notebook computer can operate with low power consumption. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
