Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high-quality display without inducing disclination within an aperture region of a pixel. SOLUTION: An insulating layer is provided on a first substrate 1, corresponding to a portion where pixel electrodes 3 are adjoining to each other, the insulating layer protruding from the face where the pixel electrodes are formed toward a second substrate 2. The pixel electrode 3 is formed in such a manner that a first edge 3a in a prescribed side of the pixel electrode is laid under the insulating layer 16 in the first edge side, and a second edge 3b of the pixel electrode in the opposite side to the first edge 3a is superimposed on the insulating layer 16 in the second edge side. A first alignment layer 17 formed to cover the pixel electrode 3 and the insulating layer 16 is rubbed in a direction from the first edge 3a to the second edge 3b of the pixel electrode 3.
