Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light extraction device with a high extraction efficiency of light using an optical fiber as a light guide body, and a color display device with high light utilization efficiency and high color purity. SOLUTION: The light extraction device uses an optical fiber 1 as a light guide body, and includes a core 2 which transmits light incident on an incidence part of the optical fiber 1, a clad 3 which is installed at the surrounding of the core 2 and reflects light at the interface with the core 2, and an end reflector plate 4 which is installed at an outgoing part. The core 2 is exposed from the clad 3 in a prescribed normal direction to the transmission direction of light. Further, the color display device uses this light extraction device and includes a backlight 6 in which a liquid crystal display element 7 and the light extraction device are aligned in a row, and the core 2 of the optical fiber 1 is exposed in the direction of the liquid crystal display element 7.
