PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism which appropriately combines data for facsimile transmission even if there is facsimile data which can not be combined and transmitted out of data obtained by scanning an original. SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus acquires first image data of the original by scanning and reading thereof, carries out character recognition of the acquired first image data, and determines whether there is a missing part in the first image data to be transmitted in accordance with the number of pages included in the obtained character recognition result. If it determines that the first image data is image data with a missing part, it acquires second image data which is a missing part corresponding to the first image data, and the acquired first image data and the acquired second image data are combined and outputted to a destination determined from the obtained character recognition result.
