METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ELECTROCHEMICAL DISPLAY ELEMENT, AND ELECTROCHEMICAL DISPLAY ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrochemical display element having reduced point defects due to air bubbles, and to provide an electrochemical display element. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the electrochemical display element having an electrolytic liquid sealed by a sealing material between two electrode substrates disposed opposing to each other includes: a sealing material forming step of forming a sealing material in a ring shape on a peripheral edge of one electrode substrate; an electrolytic liquid dropping step of dropping an electrolytic liquid onto the surface of one electrode substrate where the sealing material is formed or onto the surface of the other electrode substrate, the electrolytic liquid in an amount larger than the volume of the space enclosed by the two electrode substrates and the sealing material when the two electrode substrates are disposed opposing to each other at predetermined intervals; and an electrolytic liquid sealing step of sealing the electrolytic liquid by laminating the two electrode substrates in a reduced pressure atmosphere so as to interpose the sealing material and the dropped electrolytic liquid and to control the interval of the two electrode substrates at the peripheral edge to the predetermined interval.
