Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst having excellent purification capacity in a low temperature region. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purifying catalyst is provided on a support to purify HC, CO and NOxcontained in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine and equipped with the first catalyst layer formed on the support and the second catalyst layer formed on the first catalyst layer. The first catalyst layer has a Ce-containing oxide being a carrier and Pd and Zn supported on the Ce-containing oxide while the second catalyst layer has a Zr and Al-containing oxide being a carrier and Rh supported on the Zr and Al-containing oxide.
