Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device improved in the versatility of an ECU 11 for one type engine 70. SOLUTION: In the ECU 11 of the engine device, any one of a plurality of control modes relating to control of the engine 70 and an exhaust emission control device 50 can be selected based on automatic or manual operation. A data provision means 21 having mode characteristics data M2-M4 corresponding to the respective control modes is connected to the ECU 11. The ECU 11 determines the mode characteristics data M2-M4 read from the data provision means 21 according to the selected control mode, and drives the engine 70 based on detected information of detection means 14, 16, 68, output characteristics data M1, and the determined mode characteristics data M2-M4.
