Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader in which a bearing can be fixed to a carriage frame in a simple configuration without using any adhesive or a member that is used only for the purpose of fixing the bearing. SOLUTION: A carriage comprises a carriage frame on which a light source and a light-receiving element are placed, a bearing for supporting the carriage frame on a guide shaft slidably, and a carriage cover which covers the upper surface of the carriage frame. Since the carriage cover prevents fall-off of the bearing from the carriage frame, the bearing inserted into the carriage can be fixed in the simple configuration without using the adhesive or the member exclusive for preventing the fall-off.
