PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, a program and a recording medium by which a user can hardly recognize focal plane distortion during shake correction. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a motion detecting unit for detecting the motion quantity of an image on the basis of a plurality of frame images photographed by a CMOS imaging element; a motion predicting unit for predicting a traveling speed of an imaging apparatus when capturing an image on the basis of the motion quantity; a correction value calculating unit for calculating a correction value for correcting the motion quantity of the image so that the higher the traveling speed is, the longer the traveling motion of the imaging apparatus intended by a user remains; and a motion compensating unit for performing correction that allows only the traveling motion of the imaging apparatus intended by the user to remain in the image by the use of the correction value.
