Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bright light source device low in power consumption by enhancing the availability of light ray. SOLUTION: Since fluorescence FL emitted by a phosphor 21 is efficiently projected ahead by a first light source device 20 and bright illuminating light is obtained with less energy consumption, a bright projection image is formed with less energy consumption. That means, a high-performance projector 100 whose power consumption is suppressed can be provided. Especially, in the projector 100 in the first embodiment, the fluorescence FL around an optical axis OA of a reflector 23 is efficiently taken out to be used for illumination of liquid crystal light valves 50a, 50b and 50c, a high-contrast image can be projected.
