Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake controller for setting a target gauge pressure to be higher in a range where self-ignition does not occur and improving responsiveness especially in an operation state transferred from a low load area to a middle load area. SOLUTION: A target gauge pressure PBGACMD in a lift amount control area RLFT for controlling an intake air amount by changing a lift amount of an intake valve is set in accordance with an engine rotational speed NE. In other words, in a low rotational operation state where the engine rotational speed NE is low, an upper limit gauge pressure PBGALMTH is set to be reduced more as the engine rotational speed NE is reduced (S36), and limit processing is performed such that the target gauge pressure PBGACMD does not exceed the limit gauge pressure PBGALMTH (S37, S38).
