Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of setting a photographing region in a wide range although the number of receiving channels is smaller than the number of element coils by using an array coil formed by arraying a plurality of element coils, as an RF coil for detecting a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) signal. SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a coil array 50 formed by arraying a plurality of element coils C irradiating a subject with RF (radio frequency) waves and detecting the response waves to output analog signals; a composing section 41 processing the respective analog signals of two adjacent element coils C to output a composite signal and a difference signal; a converting section 43 inputting the composite signal or the difference signal from a receiving channel 44 and converting the signal into a digital signal; and a signal selecting section 42 outputting the composite signal and difference signal of the selected element coils C to the receiving channel 44.
