IMAGE READER AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader and image forming apparatus for improving the workability for a user sitting in a wheelchair. SOLUTION: An image reading unit 100 includes an original platen 21, an original-facing plate 31, an ADF (automatic document feeder) 30 and a CCD (charge coupled device) 28. A document is placed on the original platen 21 or fed so as to be opposed to the original-facing plate 31. The ADF 30 has a document stack tray 32, at a side portion of the image reading unit 100, with the document stacking tray configured to accommodate documents, while horizontally tilting the documents visible from the obliquely lower side of the image reading unit 100, and feeds the document through the original opposing plate 31. The CCD 28 performs photoelectric conversion on each of light reflected by the document placed on the original platen 21 and light reflected by a document opposed to the original-facing plate 31.
