Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation device which has excellent damping performance, is simple in structure, and can be easily and inexpensively manufactured, a damping mechanism used for the base isolation device, and a method for assembling the base isolation device. SOLUTION: The base isolation device includes laminated rubber 3 and the damping mechanism 4 coaxially mounted outside the laminated rubber 3. In the damping mechanism 4, a plurality of ring-shaped steel plates 6 and a plurality of ring-shaped viscoelastic bodies 7 are alternately laminated, whereby a horizontal cross section of the damping mechanism 4 is formed in the shape of a ring having a central hole to which the laminated rubber 3 can be internally fitted. In the assembling method, the damping mechanism 4 is mounted outside the laminated rubber 3 or the laminated rubber 3 is mounted inside the damping mechanism 4, and the laminated rubber 3 is internally suitable for the central hole of the damping mechanism 4, thereby assembling the base isolation device.
