Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition which satisfies at least one property or has an appropriate balance with respect to at least two properties of the properties such as high upper limit temperature of nematic phase, low lower limit temperature of nematic phase, small viscosity, adequate optical anisotropy, large negative dielectric anisotropy, large resistivity, high stability to ultraviolet rays, and high stability to heat. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition contains a compound having a large negative dielectric anisotropy, for example, obtained through reactions represented by formula as a first component, and a compound having a large negative dielectric anisotropy as a second component.
