DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and a method of controlling a display device in which firing is suppressed without causing unpleasantness for a user by shifting a display image, by reducing deterioration of image quality of the display image. SOLUTION: A display region of a display part 106 is sectioned to a plurality of regions, pixel values of image data displayed in each sectioned region in which information indicating conversion frequency for converting periodically to a pixel value expressing black is corresponded for each sectioned regions are stored in a memory 101. A conversion control part 102 issues indication converting a luminance value to a black image data converting part 104 so that pixel values included in the prescribed sectioned regions are made pixel values expressing black, using information indicating conversion frequency corresponded for each sectioned region stored in the memory 101 during display of image data.
