Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defoaming agent which exhibits excellent defoaming properties (early defoaming property and defoaming durability). SOLUTION: The defoaming agent to be used is characteristic in that it contains a wax (A) scattered in a polyether compound (B) and the content of the wax (A) is 0.5 to 10 wt.% and the content of the polyether compound (B) is 90 to 99.5 wt.% based on the weight of the wax (A) and the polyether compound (B). Further, the wax (A) has a melting point within the temperature range of 70 to 160°C, and is preferably at least one kind selected from the group consisting of (A1) a petroleum wax, (A2) a synthetic wax, (A3) a vegetable wax and (A4) a modified wax obtained by modifying these waxes.
