METHOD OF RECEIVING DATA, DATA TRANSMISSION AND RECEPTION SYSTEM, AND DATA RECEIVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce data from an accurate position without generating large errors, even if data decoding is resumed, after stopping a data reception process via a network. SOLUTION: In a data transmission and reception system, when an AV receiver stops a process for receiving AV data, the AV receiver transmits a checkup which requests a command to an AV transmitter by a process differing from the stopped process. The AV receiver determines whether the AC transmitter has responded to the transmitted checkup requesting command. The AV receiver times out the stopped process, when the AC transmitter does not respond, and the AV receiver avoids time-out, by determining that the stopped process is in a temporary stoppage state, when the AC transmitter responds. The AC receiver times out processes, in the order of older stoppage time, from the processes in a temporary stop state, when the number of processes which is determined as being in a temporary stoppage state has reached a specified number.
