Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent structural defects from occurring easily, even if reducing the thickness of an internal electrode in a multilayer ceramic electronic component, such as a multilayer ceramic capacitor. SOLUTION: For example, in the multilayer ceramic capacitor 1, the internal electrodes 4, 5 includes a base metal as a conductive constituent, a dielectric ceramic layer 3 is composed of dielectric ceramic containing ABO3((A) always includes Ba and further may include either Ca or Sr or both. B always includes Ti and further may include either Zr or Hf or both.) as a main constituent and at least one of alkaline metallic element selected from Li, K, and Na as an accessary constituent. Each of the internal electrodes 4, 5 has a thickness of ≤0.5 μm, and content of the alkaline metallic element is ≥0.2 pts.mol per 100 pts.mol of the main constituent in the dielectric ceramic.
