Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing the damage of a lower part seal-valve packing in the furnace top part of a blast furnace by which the long service life of the packing can be obtained by surely suppressing the damage of the packing suitable for the seal-valve in the furnace top part of the blast furnace. SOLUTION: A groove 21 pieced in the peripheral direction, is arranged in the inner part of an annular valve-seat 12 in the lower part seal-valve 5, and the valve-seal 12 is cooled by supplying room temperature nitrogen gas into the groove 21, thereby indirectly cooling the packing 13 in press-contact with the valve-seat 12 to control the temperature of the packing 13 to be in the temperature range (for example, 100-120°C) in which the wearing damage caused by the sticking of raw material powder can be prevented while preventing the heat damage of the packing.
