Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-surface area carbon black having a low PAK value and having a high content of a volatile component at 950°C under some circumstances, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same and use thereof. SOLUTION: The carbon black has a polycondensed aromatic hydrocarbon content of less than 5 ppm determined by a 22 PAK method and has a STSA surface area less than 90 m2/g. The carbon black is manufactured by treating a starting carbon black using electromagnetic radiation. The carbon black is used in rubbers, plastics, printing inks, inks, inkjet inks, toners, lacquers, colorants, adhesives, batteries, pastes, papers, fuel cells, bitumens, concretes and other building materials.
