SHEET FEEDER AND IMAGE READER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document carrying mechanism capable of restraining the occurrence of carrying failure of a document. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder is provided with a pressing roller 129B rotatable by being driven while pressing the document to the feed roller 129A side, and is constituted so that rotational resistance of the pressing roller 129B becomes small when a dimension in the layering direction of the document is small. Thus, the document can be easily inserted between a feed roller 129A and the pressing roller 129B by rotating the pressing roller 129B. Thus, since double feeding and idle feeding of the document can be restrained even when the document number is many needless to say when being few in the number of documents of a thin thickness and documents to be automatically carried, the occurrence of the carrying failure of the document can be prevented by a new constitution.
