Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader equipped with a cleaning mechanism in which, even if a plurality of mirrors are provided with an interval, the mirrors are properly cleaned with no increase in size of the image reader. SOLUTION: The image reader includes a scanning unit which comprises a light source part for illuminating an original, a photoelectric conversion part, and an optical path conversion part which deflects the optical path of the light reflected on the original using a plurality of oblong mirrors so that it enters the photoelectric conversion part, a moving mechanism which moves a scanning unit for scanning the original, and a cleaning mechanism for cleaning the plurality of mirrors. The cleaning mechanism includes a cleaning member for cleaning reflection surfaces of the mirrors, a holder member for holding the cleaning member, and an oblong guide member which guides the holder member along the length direction of the mirror. The guide member is surrounded with the plurality of mirrors, and is arranged not to block the optical path formed with the mirrors. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
