Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent display device which has a control IC placed inside a recession of a container portion and improves the degree of vacuum inside the container portion and attain high lifetime characteristics. SOLUTION: The container portion 2 of the fluorescent display device 1 is made, by setting a positive-electrode board 4 carrying a positive electrode 7 and a negative electrode board 3 for carrying a negative electrode 10 opposite across a given gap and sealing the outer peripheral edge of both boards and with a sealing material 6. The recess 20 is formed on the inner surface of the negative-electrode board, and the IC 21 on the positive-electrode board is housed in the recess. The interior of the container portion 2 is partitioned in an airtight manner by a partitioning wall 15 into a first portion A, where the positive electrode and the negative electrode are present, and a second portion B, where the recession and the IC are present. Although the recession has a large capacity, the first portion A partitioned by the partitioning wall has a small capacity, and high degree of vacuum is obtained through non-evaporation type getters.
