Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard-drawn wire having setting resistance equivalent to that of an oil-tempered wire without conducting any patenting treatment or an oil tempering treatment. SOLUTION: The hard-drawn wire subjected to wire drawing comprises, by mass, 0.60-0.70% C, 1.00-2.50% Si, 0.20-1.00% Mn, 0.50-2.50% Cr, 0.05-0.50% V and the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities. The tensile strength achieved after conducting a low-temperature annealing for 20 min at 400°C is 50 MPa larger than that achieved before the annealing. Since the tensile strength is improved even when stress-relief annealing is conducted after the hard-drawn wire is processed into a spring, a spring with a high setting resistance can be obtained.
