VACUUM CLEANER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner whose energy efficiency and durability are improved by selecting filters of different opening sizes on the basis of the distribution condition of the amount of fine dust contained in suction air. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes: a first filter 11 of a predetermined opening size; a second filter 12 having an opening size smaller than that of the first filter 11; a third filter 13 having an opening size smaller than that of the first filter 11 and larger than that of the second filter 12; a first dust detection means 24 which is provided in a route on the upstream side of a dust collecting chamber 8, and responds to the dust of a predetermined size; and a second dust detection means 25 which responds to the dust of a size different from the first dust detection means 24. From the output results of the first and second dust detection means 24 and 25, a control means 22 drives a filter switching means 15. By selecting an optimum filter corresponding to the condition of the amount of the fine dust contained in the suction air and collecting the dust, the energy efficiency and the durability are improved.
