Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of hunching in an imaging apparatus, when environmental illuminance is changed rapidly. SOLUTION: A screen lightness detecting section 105 detects screen lightness from image signals of frames output from an imaging device 102. A frame rate control section 106 manages history information reflected with a history of frame rate switching and determines whether there is possibility of the occurrence of hunching, even when frame rate switching is performed based on the history information, in a frame for which it has been determined that screen lightness of a preceding frame is equal to or more than an upper limit threshold or less than a lower limit threshold. Only when it is determined that there is no possibility of the occurrence of hunching, the frame rate control section 106 instructs frame rate switching to increase or decrease a frame rate to the imaging device 102 to switch the frame rate.
