SOLUTION: 1,2,3-trisubstituted aryl and heteroaryl derivatives represented by formula (Ia) are modulators for metabolism and bind to GPCR called RUP3 to modulate the activity of GPCR. Further, desirable human RUP3 for use in screening and testing is provided as a specified nucleic acid sequence or as an amino acid sequence corresponding to the nucleic acid sequence.
