FIRMWARE UPDATE SYSTEM, INFORMATION APPARATUS AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide firmware update processing capable of simultaneously attaining, in update interruption, restoration therefrom and saving of nonvolatile memory capacity used for backup and storage of differential data. SOLUTION: The system includes intermediate data regularly retaining a state of firmware under rewriting in addition to new and old firmware. When all blocks constituting the firmware are updated in an optional order, the blocks of the intermediate data and the new firmware are successively compared with each other to thereby perform calculation of an address of data for the restoration in update interruption and a backup capacity required therefor, extraction of differential data to be delivered, calculation of the capacity thereof, and formation of update procedures, and an processing order in which the total of the backup capacity and the differential data capacity is minimized is derived.
