Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a leather material, which is capable of preventing migration sufficiently, although the method uses an aqueous polyurethane resin in consideration of the problems of environmental load or VOCs (volatile organic compounds), and also does not has an odor and corrosion of an apparatus by a gas formed in the process, and surely obtaining the leather material having a flexible touch and excellent in physical properties such as abrasion resistance or fastness to friction in a good efficiency, and the leather material obtained by the method. SOLUTION: The method for producing the leather material includes impregnating a fibrous substrate material with a mixed liquid containing (A) a polyurethane resin having a carboxyl group and/or carboxylate group, (B) an ammonium salt of inorganic acid, and (C) water, and then drying it to obtain the leather material.
