PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the existence of paper by determining a paper loading state and a paper near-end state by detection information from one sensor. SOLUTION: This image forming device has a paper loading plate 25 for changing an inclination in the paper feeding direction in response to a loading quantity of paper in a paper feeding cassette, and forms an image by transferring a toner image formed by an image forming part on its paper by successively feeding the paper 8 stacked on its plate. An inclination detecting sensor 16 for detecting the inclination in the paper feeding direction is arranged on the paper loading plate 25 to change for becoming constant in a relative angle between an inclination detecting sensor 16 and the paper loading plate 25 while the paper 8 exists on its paper loading plate 25 and becoming small in its relative angle when the paper runs out on the paper loading plate 25. The loading quantity and the paper near-end of the paper are determined by the inclination detected by the inclination detecting sensor 16 in a constant state in the relative angle, and the paper end is determined by the inclination detected by the inclination detecting sensor 16 when the relative angle changes.
