Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize a Ce-containing complex oxide whereon catalytic metal is supported, in a catalyst for cleaning exhaust. SOLUTION: Specific Ce-containing complex oxide powder 4 constituted of secondary particles formed of a plurality of primary particles of a mean diameter of not smaller than 5 nm and not greater than 10 nm agglomerating together whereon catalytic metal is dispersed and supported, with the secondary particles having a particle diameter at 10 mass% of the cumulative distribution thereof of not smaller than 90 nm, a particle diameter at 50 mass% of the cumulative distribution thereof of not smaller than 150 nm and not greater than 210 nm, and a particle diameter at 90 mass% of the cumulative distribution thereof of not greater than 300 nm, is employed as Ce-containing complex oxide powder and is mixed with activated alumina powder 5 having a mean particle diameter greater than that of the secondary particles at 90 mass% of the cumulative distribution, keeping the mass ratio of the specific Ce-containing complex oxide powder 4 relative to the activated alumina powder 5 in a range of not lower than 1/100 and not higher than 50/100.
