Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environmental barrier coating for protecting CMC (ceramic matrix composite) from a high temperature water vapor environment present in a gas turbine engine. SOLUTION: Slurry compositions for making an environmental barrier coating comprises about 9-81 wt.% water, about 3-72 wt.% primary material; and about 0.1-18 wt.% slurry sintering aid. The primary material may be a primary transition material or a primary external material. The slurry composition may contain: about 0-6 wt.% dispersant; about 0-7 wt.% plasticizer; about 0-1 wt.% surfactant; about 0-11 wt.% secondary additives for controlled dispersion; about 0-0.5 wt.% thickener; and about 0-15 wt.% latex binder.
