AIRBAG DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unfold an airbag into a suitable shape according to the physique of an occupant on a passenger seat. SOLUTION: A head tension cloth 51 is connected to a head-facing part 37 of the outer shell 31 of the airbag 11 and a body tension cloth 52 is connected to a body facing part 38. An opening/closing tether 55 is connected to a closing cloth 54 covering a third vent hole 47. The head tension cloth 51 is retained separably by a first pyro actuator 17, while the opening/closing tether 55 of the body tension cloth 52 and the closing cloth 54 are retained separably by a second pyro actuator 18. A control means operates the first pyro actuator 17 to release the head tension cloth 51 for an occupant A of small build and operates the second pyro actuator 18 to release the body tension cloth 52 for an occupant B of large build. The airbag 11 can be expanded and unfold into the suitable shape by inner pressure according to the physique of an occupant. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
