PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption as a whole including an outside device by shutting off own power source, only at standing by, in comparison with power consumption of an image forming apparatus and a host as a whole, when a minimum acting portion is activated by the power supplied from the host. SOLUTION: When the acting state of an image forming apparatus 12 which is own apparatus is in a non-energy saving state and an acting state of the detected outside device is in energy-saving state, control is carried out, to have AC voltage inputted from outside converted to a predetermined DC voltage by an AC/DC converter 22, as well as, controlling so that the converted DC voltage is supplied to own apparatus and the outside apparatus (208, 408). In addition, when the acting state of own apparatus is in energy-saving state and the acting state of the detected outside apparatus is in the non-energy saving state, control is carried out so as to prevent the AC voltage from the outside of being input to the AC/DC converter 22, as well as, controlling to supply the DC voltage from the outside apparatus supplied to own apparatus (412).
