MOLD FOR OPTICAL ELEMENT AND MOLDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold precisely and stably manufacturing an optical element without causing the deviation of the mold even at a processing temperature without causing the scorch of the glass material and even at a predetermined range of viscosity of the glass material, and a molding method. SOLUTION: The mold 1 for the optical element comprises a hollow cylindrical drum mold 2 and an upper mold 3 and a lower mold 4 inserted from the upper and lower direction of the drum mold 2 and having an optical surface forming part for forming the optical surface of the optical element, wherein a space formed by being held between the upper mold 3 and the lower mold 4 in the outer peripheral side from the edge part of the optical surface forming part of the upper mold 3 and the lower mold 4 is formed as a swelling space to be extended more than the width of the edge part of the optical surface forming part of the upper mold 3 and the lower mold 4.
