SPRAY-DRYING METHOD FOR FORMING SOLID AMORPHOUS DISPERSION OF DRUG AND POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition which is improved in the concentration of a drug being poorly soluble in water.SOLUTION: There is disclosed a method for forming a pharmaceutical composition comprising a low-solubility drug, comprising the following steps of: (a) providing a drying apparatus having an atomizer 30 connected to a drying chamber 28; (b) forming a spray solution of a low-solubility drug and a polymer, wherein the polymer is selected from the group consisting of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose acetate succinate, etc.; (c) spraying the spray solution into the drying chamber to form droplets; (d) passing a drying gas at a flow rate and a temperature such that the droplets solidify in less than about 20 seconds and the drying gas containing a solvent vapor discharges from an outlet 36; (e) removing the solvent vapor from the discharged drying gas, and (f) combining the gas reduced in the solvent vapor with the drying gas at the inlet.
