SPIRAL GASKET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spiral gasket with good sealing performance, although the thickness of a gasket body is 1.6-2.0 mm that is much thinner than that of the conventional gasket.SOLUTION: The spiral gasket has the gasket body part constituted by superposing a metallic hoop material having approximately V-shaped cross-section and an expanded graphite tape and winding them, and having both side faces abutting on seal surfaces. In the spiral gasket, the following requirements are met; (1) the thickness (t) of the gasket body is 1.6-2.0 mm; (2) the thickness (t) of the metallic hoop material is 0.14-0.18 mm and the width (t) of the metallic hoop material in the approximately V-shaped cross-section is 1.4-1.7 mm; (3) an expression of a protrusion amount (t)-(t)=0.1-0.4 mm is satisfied; (4) the thickness of the expanded graphite tape before the winding is 0.3-0.45 mm; and (5) the thickness (t) of the expanded graphite filler in the spiral gasket is 0.05-0.47 mm.
