MRI BIOPSY TARGETING GRID WITH ROUND OPENING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biopsy system for taking biopsy tissue samples.SOLUTION: The biopsy system 10 includes a biopsy device 14 and a positioning grid plate 96, which is configured to position a part of a patient and defines a plurality of round openings. A probe 91 of the biopsy device and/or other associated components may be inserted through a selected one of the openings. The grid plate 96 may thus guide the probe 91 and/or other components as such components are inserted into the positioned part of the patient; and may further support the probe and/or other components after insertion. The grid plate 96 may thus be used without a targeting cube or other inserted guide. Alternatively, the openings of the grid plate 96 may be configured to receive a targeting guide 64 or 66 having a cylindraceous body.
