Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of effectively utilizing a non-power generation area outside a position corresponding to a gas supplying opening or gas exhausting opening having a slender shape, which is formed in a separator, and also effectively preventing the opening from being blocked with moisture. SOLUTION: The fuel cell includes a unit fuel cell 10 composed of a membrane-electrode assembly 3, gas permeable layers provided on both sides thereof, and a separator 7. Catalyst layers 2 and 2' are formed in a central area corresponding to the inside between the gas supplying opening 71a and gas discharging opening provided on the separator. A water absorbing area is provided in peripheral areas 9 and 9' outside the central area of the gas permeable layers (for example, gas flow passage layers 6 and 6'). COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
