Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device and an electric power supply method for facilitating supply of larger electric power to electronic equipment such as Portable Digital Assistants (PDA) and a portable media player through a peripheral bus such as Universal Serial Bus (USB). SOLUTION: When supplying power supply through the peripheral bus supported by the cable for connecting a host device and the electronic equipment mutually, power supply of the host device (for example, a power supply adapter or a battery pack) is recognized, and available electric power from the power supply through the peripheral bus is determined in this electric power supply method.
