CORROSION PREVENTING METHOD FOR STAINLESS STEEL MEMBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To repair or maintain passive film on a stainless steel member without disassembling an apparatus in various facilities for handling sea water. SOLUTION: In the various facilities handling sea water such as an instrument using sea water as cooling water. a pipeline for transporting sea water or a storage tank storing sea water, the passive film on a part of the stainless steel member which is in contact with sea water is repaired or maintained while using the facilities by adding a mixed solution of hydrogen peroxide with acetic acid into the sea water to be handled. That means, the passive film is repaired or maintained without disassembling the part of the stainless steel which is in contact with sea water. The mixed solution to be added into the sea water can be an extremely small quantity per sea water and the passive film is excellently formed by the periodical addition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
