CHARACTER INPUT DEVICE AND CHARACTER CONVERSION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To input characters without limitation of a range of the characters to be selected for conversion. SOLUTION: A character input device 100 is provided with a touch panel 101, and a display part 111 laminated on the touch panel 101. A coordinate detection unit 102 detects coordinate values of two positions of contact between two objects and the touch panel 101. When the two objects move on the touch panel 101 in contact therewith and the distance between current coordinate values of the two contact positions becomes smaller than the distance between initial coordinate values of the two contact positions, a character conversion processing unit 105 converts a specific character string of character strings displayed on the display part 111, and having characters corresponding to the initial coordinate values of the two contact positions at both ends.
