Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition that has a high refractive index anisotropy and a low threshold voltage, and is improved in burn-in phenomenon when used for constructing an active matrix-driven cholesteric liquid crystal display element, and to also provide an active matrix-driven cholesteric liquid crystal display element improved in burn-in phenomenon and excellent in display quality. SOLUTION: The cholesteric liquid crystal composition for active matrix driving includes a group A of compounds that are two or three ring compounds having a fluorobenzene skeleton, whose refractive index anisotropy is 0.16-0.40 and dielectric anisotropy is 12-30, a group B of compounds that are two or three ring compounds having a cyanobenzene skeleton, whose refractive index anisotropy is 0.10-0.40 and dielectric anisotropy is 10-80, and an optically active compound, wherein the content of the compound group A is 50-90%, the content of the compound group B is 4-30%, and the content of the optically active compound is 0.1-5%.
