PHOSPHORUS-CONTAINING PHENOL RESIN, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, PHOSPHORUS-CONTAINING EPOXY RESIN COMPOSITION USING THE RESIN AND CURED PRODUCT OF THE COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a useful phosphorus-containing phenol resin having less precipitation of a phosphate compound, and to provide a phosphorus-containing epoxy resin composition that uses the resin as an essential component and is mixed with an epoxy resin, and a cured product thereof. SOLUTION: The phosphorus-containing phenol resin is obtained by reacting a compound represented by chemical formula (3) with an epoxy resin and has a phosphorus content of 2-9 wt.%. In the phosphorus-containing phenol resin, benzoquinone being a starting substance of the compound represented by chemical formula (3) has a value obtained by dividing a peak area (B) by a total area (C) of ≤8 area% in a peak area (A) on a chromatogram measured using gel permeation chromatography, the peak area (B) on a higher molecular side than the component of (A) and the total area (C) of the peak area (A) and the peak area (B).
