Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light emitting device in which deterioration of impact resistance of a transparent substrate is suppressed even if a scattering portion to scatter light is formed on the transparent substrate. SOLUTION: The surface light emitting device includes a transparent substrate 1 and a light emitting element 7 which is arranged on one surface of the transparent substrate 1 and is a laminate including a transparent electrode 2 becoming a positive electrode, a negative electrode 6 becoming the negative electrode opposed to the transparent electrode 2, and a luminous layer 4 pinched between the transparent electrode 2 and the negative electrode 6. A scattering portion 9 which scatters light is partially installed on the other surface of the transparent substrate 2, and a blank portion 10 on which the scattering portion 9 is not formed is installed between the scattering portion 9 and the outer circumference of the transparent substrate 2.
