GAS GENERATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator which can gradually expand and develop an airbag for a front passenger seat, and is used for a compact and lightweight airbag, especially, the airbag for the front passenger seat. SOLUTION: An interior portion of a long cylindrical housing 1 is partitioned into a gas generating chamber 3 having a gas generating agent 12 stored therein, and a filter chamber 4 having a filter material 7 mounted thereto. An inflammation agent 15 is mounted to an inflammation means 30 connected to an ignition means 13 mounted to one shaft end of the housing 1. In the gas generating chamber 3, a hollow space 6 is formed by an internal cylindrical member 5 having a plurality of gas passing holes 21 into which a generated gas of the gas generating agent 12 flows. The internal cylindrical member 5 has a bottomed cylindrical shape wherein a bottom part 5a is provided at an end part of the inflammation means 30 side. The generated gas accumulated in the hollow space 6 is discharged into the filter chamber 4 through an orifice 20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
