BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biometric authentication device capable of being thinned while preventing deterioration in authentication accuracy under influence of external light. SOLUTION: The biometric authentication device for acquiring information on veins of a user's finger for personal authentication includes: a first housing provided with a light source unit for radiating light on the user's finger from above; a second housing provided with a scanner for imaging the veins of the user's finger from below to acquire an imaged vein image of the user's finger, and a controller for performing personal authentication for a user based on the vein image acquired by the scanner; and a joint, provided with a joining mechanism for openably and closably joining the first housing and the second housing, for operating the first housing and the second housing from a closed state where the light source unit in the first housing and a reading surface of the scanner in the second housing are facing and near each other to an open state where the light source unit and the reading surface of the scanner are not facing nor near each other.
